A Sweet In-Home Newborn Photography Session by Carmel, Indiana Newborn Photographer, Katelyn Ng

As a newborn photographer serving Carmel, Indiana and the surrounding suburbs, one of my very favorite things is preserving the sweet details that are apart your baby’s first home. Now, this DOES NOT mean we utilize every room in your home! I typically look at 2-3 different areas when planning your session. Often mamas will send photos ahead of their newborn photography session so that I can see the layout and the type of light at midday.

The areas most often utilized are the baby’s nursery, and sometimes the master bedroom or main living room. These spaces are so special as, let’s be honest, they are the main hangout spots for your family during the sweet, very fleeting newborn season!

As you cuddle up with your family in your own natural environment, I bundle up the tiny features of your baby. This is the first home you’ll all be living in together! And I’ve got to say, it’s so special to be invited into this space to document the moments of motherhood and parenthood as you step into your new roles as mom and dad.

A Light and Airy Baby Girl Nursery

I absolutely LOVED the beautiful wall hangings above Charlotte’s crib (you can find a similar one here!) You could tell that each detail was intentionally chosen to bring a warm but light and airy vibe to the entire nursery. From the light gray crib and dresser, to the metal accents on the table and lamp, this nursery held a feminine yet classic feel.

One tip for making your nursery cozy is to include texture whenever possible. This makes a more neutral nursery less boring while maintaining a light and airy feel. Alex and Max achieved this by including a beautiful floral rug (those light pink florals are to die for!) and a sweet muted pink knitted receiving blanket.

They selected a white rocker, adding a pop of color and texture with an accent pillow! This is a perfect solution for practicality and style in my book! This room is perfectly sweet as it is for their baby girl, and if they ever need to update in the future as she grows, it will be super simple!
